Why do we need a new Scout House? The new building is a replacement for the existing one, which has now been demolished. The old Scout House was built in the 1960s, was in poor condition and its upkeep costs were prohibitively expensive. The building did not meet disability requirements and was too small to meet the needs of the growing number of young people who want to join us.
About the Architect The Architect who designed this fantastic building is a parent of one of our Scouts and he was happy to provide his skills to help us achieve our wants and needs. As seen on the home page, the building combines function with a good appearance. Planning Permission update Planning permission has been granted by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. £200,000 has been pledged by the Berkswell Charities towards our total. We are raising the remainder of the funds as a Scout Group with the help of our dedicated voluntary fundraising Committee. |
The Future! The building will allow us to make the most of the new facilities and provide an activity base for the Scouts and management. It will help us encourage the development of precious life skills, give an understanding of vital environmental issues, build confidence, aspirations, acceptance of responsibilities and leadership, giving them a helping hand for the future is our goal.
