As many of you are aware, the old Berkswell Scout House was built in the 1960s and has high upkeep costs and so sadly it needs to be demolished. The old building also does not meet disability requirements and is too small for the numbers of young people who want to join.
The Scouts Executive Committee made up entirely of volunteers have been looking at how they could fund a new Scout House which is going to cost in the region of £400,000.
Planning permission for the new building has been granted by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. We have already raised £250,000 in cash, in kind and as pledges of the £400,000 required. The remaining £150,000 needs to be raised by our target date of the autumn of 2016.
