![]() By way of an update, I am pleased to advise that the “Sales Team” consisting of myself, Norman, Tony Hick, Judith Applegarth, Jean Lewis and Nigel Foster, raised a fantastic £299.00 last Saturday outside Blooms, in Balsall Common. Thanks "Team" for all your help. A big thank you to Norman, who alone raised £201.00 on May Day at the Reading Rooms. Well done Norman. Duck Race tickets have been sent to 74 Parents and leaders and only 14 have returned the sold counterfoils - so thank you to those people that have returned their sold tickets – your support is appreciated. We have some great prizes provided by local businesses: First Prize: £150 2nd Prize: £50 This is just a reminder to those who have not got round to returning their sold counterfoils. Time is running out and we need any unsold tickets to be returned for our next major sales event, which is at the Co-op Balsall Common, on Saturday 25 June. Do you have an hour to spare? We would love to see a different group of volunteers helping to sell Duck Race tickets on Saturday 25 June – so please think about giving up only an hour of your time to join the Sales Team. Your help would be very welcome. Finally, I look forward to receiving a "Flood" of sold tickets as soon as possible and well before 25th June.. If any Parents/Leaders reading this update that have not received their 2 books of tickets please let me know and I will get them out to you. Thank you John Page, Chairman

As many of you are aware, the old Berkswell Scout House was built in the 1960s and has high upkeep costs and so sadly it needs to be demolished. The old building also does not meet disability requirements and is too small for the numbers of young people who want to join.
The Scouts Executive Committee made up entirely of volunteers have been looking at how they could fund a new Scout House which is going to cost in the region of £400,000. Planning permission for the new building has been granted by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. We have already raised £250,000 in cash, in kind and as pledges of the £400,000 required. The remaining £150,000 needs to be raised by our target date of the autumn of 2016. How you can help? You could “buy a brick” from as little as £60. You could become a local Business Supporter from as little as £250.00 You could forward a link to this website to family and friends and ask if they would consider supporting us. You could contact David Stableforth, Chairman of the Fundraising Committee on 01676 533279 if you have any further ideas on how we can successfully reach this fundraising target. We hope you are able to help either by supporting our events, buying a brick or making suggestions on how we can raise raise the additional funding needed. Thank you David Stableforth Chairman of the Berkswell (53rd Coventry) Scouts Appeals Committee |
