As many of you are aware, the old Berkswell Scout House was built in the 1960s and has high upkeep costs and so sadly it needs to be demolished. The old building also does not meet disability requirements and is too small for the numbers of young people who want to join.
The Scouts Executive Committee made up entirely of volunteers have been looking at how they could fund a new Scout House which is going to cost in the region of £400,000. Planning permission for the new building has been granted by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council. We have already raised £250,000 in cash, in kind and as pledges of the £400,000 required. The remaining £150,000 needs to be raised by our target date of the autumn of 2016. How you can help? You could “buy a brick” from as little as £60. You could become a local Business Supporter from as little as £250.00 You could forward a link to this website to family and friends and ask if they would consider supporting us. You could contact David Stableforth, Chairman of the Fundraising Committee on 01676 533279 if you have any further ideas on how we can successfully reach this fundraising target. We hope you are able to help either by supporting our events, buying a brick or making suggestions on how we can raise raise the additional funding needed. Thank you David Stableforth Chairman of the Berkswell (53rd Coventry) Scouts Appeals Committee |
